BIO

I am a percussion educator and performer whose work is grounded in tradition, disciplined musicianship, and a deep belief in music as a tool for personal growth and community connection. My career bridges education, performance, and private instruction, with a focus on developing confident, musical performers at every stage of their journey.

IMG_3222I currently live in Liberty, Missouri, where I remain deeply connected to the local arts and education community. I am continuing my formal musical studies at William Jewell College, where I am working toward completing and receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance, further refining my performance practice and pedagogical approach.

My earlier academic background includes coursework toward a Bachelor of Science - Music Education at Missouri Western State University, followed by a Bachelor of Science - Business Administration from Park University (graduating in 2013). This combination of musical and business education allows me to approach music programs with both artistic integrity and strong organizational leadership. My development as a percussionist was shaped by the mentorship of Sean Rogers, Dr. Dennis Rogers, Kevin Bobo, Doug Alwater, Tracy Thompson, Jeff Hinton, and most important, My dad; Bob Cochran. Their influences continue to inform my teaching philosophy and performance standards.

Outside of music, I am a husband and father of two, roles that strongly influence my approach as an educator. I value patience, consistency, and clear communication—principles that shape both my teaching and my commitment to building supportive, meaningful musical experiences.

Whether working with a high school ensemble, a private student, or a professional performance group, my goal remains the same: to honor the craft of percussion, build strong musical foundations, and help musicians perform with confidence, integrity, and purpose.
